My man bling

November 25th, 2008 No comments

Ok so I just made up “man bling”; whatevs.

Over about the past 2 years I’ve been on a slippery slope of accumulating accessories. Mainly starting with an (almost under-control) obsession with rings, starting with 1 and growing up to 5 on occasion; averaging at 2. I also decided it was time to wear a watch again (for the first time in a good 5 years) so I treated myself:

This had me content for quite a while. Until I decided to start passively looking for something to wear on my right wrist. Yesterday I stumbled onto exactly what I was looking for:

Even mom mostly approved.

This unfortunately led to another slippery slope. Whilst parading around the office getting opinions one of the girls mentioned she had a white one which she wasn’t using ’cause it didn’t fit.

I’m not completely sold mostly ’cause I feel it has a pretty feminine look but I’ve promised to give it a full day because everyone in the office said it looks good.

*EDIT*

Solidgame recently requested where I got my “man bling” so here’s a breakdown to the best of my memory:

  • Black & silver ring (right ring finger) is from Metrosexual in Canal Walk.
  • Silver ring (left index finger) seen here is from a little shop I found at the Hermanus flea market.
  • Thick silver ring (left wedding finger in the above photo) is from a friend who studied jewelry design at Stellenbosch.
  • Thin silver ring (left wedding finger in the above photo) is from a Jeweler in Ballito.
  • Tribal silver ring (right index finger in the above photo) was from a center court shop in Gateway. One of those little trolley things that don’t seem permanent but they are.
  • Fossil watch was from the Fossil shop at Canal Walk.
  • Black leather cuff is from a shop called Bogart Man at “The Zone” in Rosebank
  • White leather cuff (I was told) is from YDE somewhere in the JHB area.

Let me know if I’ve left anything out and I hope this helps.

Side note: I still haven’t worn the white on in public since the day I got it.

My plans

November 14th, 2008 Comments off

I’ve been procrastinating writing about my plans for ages now; mostly because a lot of my plans are up in the air and the rest I can’t talk about yet.

I’m currently working out the month at my my old job. I’ve worked for this company for almost 2 years now and although it’s been great fun, a fantastic learning experience and all those positive things, I really felt like it’s time for me to move on.

One of the most important realisations I had, which really swayed my decision to move on, was the difference between B2B and B2C software/web/mobile development. There’s such a huge gap between the two and it became so obvious which I want to pursue.

At the end of November I’m going to go back home to Durban to hang out with the family over Christmas / New Years with some dedicated time to work on B2C side-project ideas I’ve had lurking around for a while. My British passport gets me 3 months in America and I’ll be going over to NYC mid-Jan with the main objective of having some fun and getting some travelling under my belt.
